The parade is the largest such parade in North America. This colorful parade wound from Market Street and through downtown San Francisco from Market Street to Union Square and around back towards Chinatown. The route varies slightly from year to year depending upon traffic and construction but always makes a Union Square stop for the TV cameras.

Born and raised in North Dakota, she obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Minnesota State University in Mankato, MN. Her art education began when her parents enrolled Bonnie in the Art Instruction Schools as a child. This was a home study "Draw Me" school that advertised frequently in the magazines of the time. She continued her interest in art during her college years, majoring in fine art, photography and printmaking. Not long after completing her college BFA degree, Bonnie moved to San Francisco, and continued her art education by taking photography...
