Heart of the Dragon is a somewhat abstract photograph captured at the 2017 Chinese New Year Parade in San Francisco. This is a view of the belly of the dragon with its human legs, but the rhythm and memory of the music made me think of this intimate view as being the heart of the dragon.
The dancing of the dragons through the streets are always a very popular feature in the New Year's celebration. The parade also features decorative floats, marching bands and martial arts groups as well.

Born and raised in North Dakota, she obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Minnesota State University in Mankato, MN. Her art education began when her parents enrolled Bonnie in the Art Instruction Schools as a child. This was a home study "Draw Me" school that advertised frequently in the magazines of the time. She continued her interest in art during her college years, majoring in fine art, photography and printmaking. Not long after completing her college BFA degree, Bonnie moved to San Francisco, and continued her art education by taking photography...
