I call this photograph Nouveau Route 66 because it reflects a changing landscape along the historic Route 66 of the USA, at least in the towns that still remain along the route. - We tend to think of the 1950's and 1960's when we think of Route 66, but much of the old is being replaced. This Ramada in Kingman AZ chose to honor the past with some kitchy architecture and a bold mural to reflect the Route 66 past heyday that included Betty Boop, the Rat Pack, Marilyn Monroe and more.
Info from the infamous internet:
[The Kingman Ramada was] the latest stage in the transformation of a property that opened as a Holiday Inn in the mid-1960s. Murals, tour packages, special events and a renovation of the grounds from the swimming pool to landscaping since 2014 are part of the motel's quest to become a Route 66 destination.
