The Split Rock Lighthouse is a photograph of this classic lighthouse sitting atop a cliff at the edge of Lake Superior in the USA.
After a November gale wrecked nearly 30 ships on Lake Superior in 1905, the president of a steamship company led a delegation urging the U.S. Lighthouse Service to construct this lighthouse landmark. The Split Rock Light Station was completed in 1910, and for half a century it oversaw the safe passage of freighters carrying freshly mined ore from Minnesota’s Iron Range. It is now the main attraction of Split Rock Lighthouse State Park.

Born and raised in North Dakota, she obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Minnesota State University in Mankato, MN. Her art education began when her parents enrolled Bonnie in the Art Instruction Schools as a child. This was a home study "Draw Me" school that advertised frequently in the magazines of the time. She continued her interest in art during her college years, majoring in fine art, photography and printmaking. Not long after completing her college BFA degree, Bonnie moved to San Francisco, and continued her art education by taking photography...
