Fire Horses is a photograph captured at a Fisherman's Wharf celebration of 19th century San Francisco firefighting, which included the service of firehorses. These horses helped haul equipment and water to areas in need during fires. They are part of the volunteer hook and ladder division.

Born and raised in North Dakota, she obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Minnesota State University in Mankato, MN. Her art education began when her parents enrolled Bonnie in the Art Instruction Schools as a child. This was a home study "Draw Me" school that advertised frequently in the magazines of the time. She continued her interest in art during her college years, majoring in fine art, photography and printmaking. Not long after completing her college BFA degree, Bonnie moved to San Francisco, and continued her art education by taking photography...
