The Modern and the Baroque is a photograph contrasting the modern design of the new DeYoung Museum against a large bronze vase sculpture on its grounds.
The newly designed De Young Museum opened in 2005 and was built on the same land in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park as the previous museum.
The sculpture called Poème de la vigne (Poem of the Vine) (1877–1878, cast in 1882), is a highly detailed large bronze vase by Gustave Doré (French, 1832–1883) that has been featured at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco’s two museum properties since 1895.

Born and raised in North Dakota, she obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Minnesota State University in Mankato, MN. Her art education began when her parents enrolled Bonnie in the Art Instruction Schools as a child. This was a home study "Draw Me" school that advertised frequently in the magazines of the time. She continued her interest in art during her college years, majoring in fine art, photography and printmaking. Not long after completing her college BFA degree, Bonnie moved to San Francisco, and continued her art education by taking photography...
