Description
There is something not only spacious but haunting and desolate about a motel with no roof or finished interior... This is a black and white photograph of a portion of the Desert Lodge along Route 66 (Andy Devine Ave.) in Kingman, AZ.
The Desert Lodge was built in the 1940's, fell into disrepair, a demolition in the interest of renovation was started in Spring of 2015 according to the local newspaper, but no progress has been made since that time. I wonder if this now timeless piece of Route 66 history may remain as it is seen here forever, home to no one but ghosts passing through.

First words that popped in my mind were 'Oh I love this!". Such dramatic lighting casts a welcome light on the stones of this building.

so dramatic, great black and white, shows the depth of the subject, well done!
