Description
Bruce Lee Memory is a photograph captured in Chinatown, San Francisco, commemorating a home town hero.
Lee Jun-fan, commonly known as Bruce Lee, was a Chinese, Hong Kong American actor, director, martial artist, martial arts instructor and philosopher.
Born in Chinatown, San Francisco, his family returned to Hong Kong, where as a child he began appearing in films at the age of 5. He received martial arts training (after being beaten up by a street gang) from Sifu Yip Man for about 5 years, studying wing chun kung fu.
He returned to San Francisco in 1959, attended college in Seattle, Washington, where he studied philosphy. He opened a kung fu school and was featured at martial arts events. Through his contacts he was screen tested to star as Kato in The Green Hornet TV series.
As a very charismatic personality he continued his rise to prominence in the 1970’s while starring in several martial arts movies, but tragically, Bruce passed away suddenly in 1973 (of a cerebral edema) at the age of 32 while in Hong Kong.
For years rumors swirled as to whether there was a curse on Bruce Lee's family, especially when his son Brandon Lee was later killed in a freak accident on a movie set.
Movies:
The Big Boss (1971)
Fist of Fury (1972)
Way of the Dragon (1972)
Enter the Dragon (1973)
Game of Death (1978) - This movie was patched together posthumously using some previously unreleased Bruce Lee footage
